No Cost Curbside Meals, Free and Reduced Meal Application

As a reminder, the USDA approved for CMCSS to continue serving free breakfast and lunch meals to all children 18 and under, as the district has since March. The USDA stated that these free meals will be available through December 2020, or until funds run out. No information has been made available beyond December 2020.

Meals are available for all children 18 and under in Montgomery County, including students in CMCSS K-12 Virtual, students enrolled in traditional, and children not enrolled in CMCSS schools.

Traditional students may receive a free breakfast and lunch each school day, inside their school building, as part of their regular day.

CMCSS K-12 Virtual students and children not enrolled in a CMCSS school may pick up meals curbside. All curbside meals will be available at the closest elementary school beginning Friday, September 18. Curbside meals will no longer be available for pick-up at any middle or high school locations. Families with multiple children can pick-up all meals in one location.

Weekday meals are available Mondays from 1 – 2 p.m. for CMCSS K-12 Virtual and non-enrolled children, 18-years-old and under, at all CMCSS elementary schools.

Weekend meals are available Fridays from 1 – 2 p.m. for CMCSS K-12 Virtual, traditional students, and non-enrolled children, 18-years-old and under, at all CMCSS elementary schools.

Children are not required to be present for curbside pick-up. The person picking up meals will need to provide the name of the child(ren) not present.

Although pre-payment for meals will not be needed, if a student wants to purchase any items available outside of the free meal served in the cafeteria, funds will need to be applied to his/her account. Parents/guardians can preload funds on a student’s account at This is the preferred and fastest way to add funds. Or, families may mail a check in advance to the cafeteria at their student’s enrolled school. No payments will be accepted curbside. Funds already applied to a student’s account can remain on the account for use when this program ends.

It is currently expected that the breakfast and lunch meals will be provided to students free of charge through December of 2020, this could potentially end earlier if funding for the free meals from the Federal Government runs out prior to the end of December 2020. Once the free meal program ends, each student’s meal eligibility status will take effect at that time, and a cost will be associated with each meal purchased unless the student receives an approved free meal eligibility status. A student’s eligibility status will change to paid status if an approved application is not on file and approved by Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at 4:30 pm. Please remember that parents or guardians are responsible for charge balances on their student’s account.

As a reminder, the grace period for the Free and Reduced Meal Program will end on Wednesday, October 21. If you feel that your child qualifies for free and reduced meal benefits, and you have not filled out a free/reduced application for this school year, or you have not received a letter stating that your child is on the program for this school year, you will need to fill out an application. For a quicker application method, you can go to the online application at If you choose to have a paper application, they are available at your child’s school or at Central Office.

Important Car Circle Information- Please Read

Important Car Circle Information! It is important to have your car tag hanging up and visable in your car, any time you are in Car Circle. If you do not have your car tag, you must park in the parking lot and walk into the school to sign your child out through the front office. Safety is our utmost concern! We cannot release a student in Car Circle to any car that does not have their car tag displayed. Please help your child memorize their car tag number. This simple request will make afternoon pick-up flow smoothly and as quickly as possible. Please also make sure you child is able to unbuckle their seat belt and knows how to open and close the car door. Parents and guardians are to remain in their cars at all times!

For our new parents and as a reminder for our returning parents, we want to remind everyone the way Car Circle should work and flow each day. It is important that everyone follows the directions. It will help keep as much traffic as possible off of McAdoo Creek Road and it will help keep Car Circle flowing and make it fair for everyone. Do not ever block the Fire Station garages. The fire trucks need to be able to enter and exit as needed, without having to worry about traffic blocking them in. Please review the below diagram and directions to see how Car Circle should work each afternoon! We really appreciate your help and cooperation with following the proper traffic flow pattern.

2020-2021 EMES Car Circle Program

***GOAL:  To safely drop off and pick up all students each school day, while attempting to keep McAdoo Creek Road clear for passing traffic.

PARENTS, GUARDIANS, etc.  (Please read this in its entirety and look at the map to fully understand):

Upon your arrival to our campus in the morning and/or afternoon, please asses the Car Circle situation and position  your vehicle in the appropriate place depending on one of the following conditions:

  1. If the main two lanes are NOT backed up to McAdoo Creek Road and there are NO vehicles parked in the Overflow Lot, proceed into either of the main two lanes; OR
  2. If the main two lanes are NOT backed up to McAdoo Creek Road and there are vehicles parked in the Overflow Lot, proceed to the Overflow Lot and park in the lowest parking stall number available.  (Parking stalls are numbered 1, 2, 3…all the way to 10)

When using the Overflow Lot, please remember:

  1. Vehicles parked in the parking stalls enter the main two lanes of the Car Circle line in the order they arrived.  For example, Stall #1 goes first, Stall #2 goes second, and so on.
  2. All vehicles need to pull ALL THE WAY FORWARD in the parking stall, so as to allow three (3) vehicles to fit in each parking stall.
  3. In a situation where the parking stalls are emptying into the main two lanes when you arrive, please pull into the available parking stall to the RIGHT of all vehicles already there.  Example:  If parking stall #4 is pulling into the main two lanes and the parking stalls are filled all the way to parking stall #8, then you would pull into parking stall #9.  If all parking stalls to the RIGHT are full, then you would park in parking stall #1, #2, etc. depending on availability.

Free Breakfast and Lunch for All CMCSS Students

In case you haven’t heard, all CMCSS students will be able to get breakfast and lunch for free, at least for the first semester! For our traditional students, your child can eat both meals for free any school day! Breakfast is served each morning from 8:15 until 8:35 in the cafeteria. Students who choose to eat breakfast at school need to immediately go to the school cafeteria, once they arrive at school, to get their breakfast. They do not go to their class first. For our virtual students, you can come to school each week on Monday from 1:00 until 2:00, to pick up your meals. You will come to the front of the school and drive around the front circle. Our wonderful cafeteria staff will be handing out meals, as you drive by. If we do not have school on a Monday, for example this coming week because of the Labor Day holiday, then the meal will be served the following school day!
